Cookie notice

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep and send back on each visit. It is how a site remembers that you are signed in from one page to the next.

Retask sets only the cookies it needs to work. Each one is listed below, with what it is for and how long it lasts. The list is drawn from Retask itself, so it cannot name a cookie Retask does not set or leave out one it does.

  • Device cookie (strictly necessary): remembers that you have signed in from this device before, so that a sign-in from a new device can be flagged to you. It holds a random identifier and nothing about you. It lasts 20 years, or until you clear your browser's cookies.
  • no advertising cookies;
  • no analytics or tracking;
  • no cookies from anyone else.

Every cookie below is strictly necessary: without them Retask cannot keep you signed in, warn you about a sign-in from a device you have not used before, or show times in your time zone. The law asks for a notice for cookies like these, not for your consent. This page is that notice, so there is nothing to accept or refuse.

If Retask ever needs a cookie that is not strictly necessary, it will ask you first, and saying no will be as easy as saying yes.

Retask also remembers a few display choices in your browser's own storage: light or dark mode, and how you left the side menu. They stay on your device.

Every cookie Retask sets

  • session_id Strictly necessary

    Keeps you signed in. Removed when you sign out.

    Lasts: 20 years, or until you sign out

  • _retask_session Strictly necessary

    Carries a sign-in in progress, the page to return to afterwards, and one-off messages such as “Signed out”.

    Lasts: Until you close your browser

  • device_id Strictly necessary

    Remembers that you have signed in from this device before, so a sign-in from a new device can be flagged to you. It holds a random identifier and nothing about you.

    Lasts: 20 years, or until you clear your browser's cookies

  • tz Strictly necessary

    Your browser's time zone, so times are shown in yours rather than in UTC.

    Lasts: 1 year
